Well folks, I mentioned a few posts ago that I was off to a baby shower, remember?
Anyhoo, my friend and co-owner of Plover Organic was there with her adorable little one wearing a dress made from Plover Organic material. I never in a million years thought I would have a picture of the First Family hanging on my fridge, but I'm still basking in the glow of hope and victory! Aren't you?

VEGETARIAN GOODNESS

Cooking up a delicious meal can really take the edge off the day. Food is such a primary need and when you take the time to prepare a meal I think it naturally soothes on some deep internal level because you are providing for one of the only things people can't do without..food. There is a special nourishment that comes from a home cooked meal. I love to experiment in the kitchen and make up my own recipes and I love the challenge of cooking up something great from only what I have available. I open up a bottle of wine, put on some music and go to town! Last night, my boyfriend and I both needed a little R&R so I foraged through the cupboards and fridge and came up with this...vegetarian (I'm a lifer) meal...SPICY GARLIC LENTILS, CARAMELIZED RED ONION POLENTA PIE, GORGONZOLA AND WALNUT BRUSSEL SPROUTS, and a warm French baguette with butter. For dessert I made RUM PEAR BREAD PUDDING with DULCE DE LECHE ice cream. Mmmmm..it was GOOD if I do say so myself! After dinner we cozied up next to the fire feeling nourished and happy and tucked in early. A lovely end to a long day.

PYGMY TARSIER

Have you heard about this people? I LOVE it when I hear this kind of news. Amongst the almost daily reports of another species going extinct, today there was this tidbit about the Pygmy Tarsier, one of the planet's smallest and rarest primates. They are MOUSE SIZED! How cute is that? They were spotted, trapped, tagged and released in the Lore Lindu National Park in central Sulawesi in Indonesia. They have long been assumed to be extinct as there has not been a sighting in eighty years. Here is a picture of one of the little guys.

THE LITTLE JOYS OF HOME

Like most of America, times are bit leaner than usual in my household right now. Everyday however, I just count my blessings and take joy in the warmth and comfort of my friends and home. I look at my Buddah sitting on the fireplace mantel and remember to step outside of myself, see my problems from afar, and remember, that in the scheme of things they are hardly problems at all!

Nature Heals

Today I was just withered from my fourth night of insomnia. Those of you who are unfamiliar with it...count your blessings! However, I did go out for a lovely quiet walk and let nature restore me.

I love beautiful perfume. Who doesn’t? I honestly believe scent can influence and elevate our moods. Just think how a whiff of a certain smell can conjure the most visceral memories. Dream Car

LOOK AT THIS LOVELY LITTLE CAR! I walk by it almost everyday and conjure up 60's era day dreams of myself driving along looking like Tippi Hedren with a large shaggy canine companion in the passenger seat. We would zip along California's HWY 1 with our windows down on our way to some enchanted cabin amongst the hills and the fog.

WIDE OPEN SPACES

With winter creeping through our old windows and doors, I'm pining for summer and wide open spaces. Its always so hard for me to give into winter.
